Trowel Hard™
Nano-Silica Densifier
Applied during finishing, not after. Deeper penetration. Complete cement reaction.
How It Works
Trowel Hard nano-silica is sprayed onto the concrete surface during power troweling. Because the concrete is still fresh and the pore structure is open, the nano-silica particles penetrate to the full depth of the slab — not just the top 1–3mm like traditional liquid silicates.
Unlike sodium or lithium silicates that only react with lime (a partial reaction), Trowel Hard's nano-silica reacts directly with cement for a complete, permanent reaction. This improves hydration efficiency and creates a denser, harder concrete matrix throughout.
The result is a dust-free, densified surface — immediately. No waiting for cure. No return trips. No film residue to clean up.
Key Benefits
Full Slab Penetration
Nano-silica penetrates the full depth of the slab. Liquid silicates only reach 1–3mm of the surface.
Complete Cement Reaction
Reacts with cement — not just lime like traditional silicates. More complete, more permanent.
No Surface Residue
No white film, no haze, no cleaning required. The surface is ready immediately after application.
Single-Visit Application
Applied once during placement. No scheduling return trips. No coordinating with other trades.
Enhanced Abrasion Resistance
Significantly improves surface hardness and wear resistance beyond what untreated or silicate-treated concrete achieves.
Extended Finishing Window
Reduces risk of plastic shrinkage cracking and delamination by improving the finishing environment.
Works with Optimal Slab
Designed as a complete system with Optimal Slab dry-shake hardener for maximum performance.
Trowel Hard vs. Traditional Liquid Densifiers
Liquid silicate densifiers are applied after the floor cures. Trowel Hard works during placement — and the difference is fundamental.
| Trowel Hard | Liquid Silicates | |
|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient | Nano-silica (SiO₂) | Sodium / lithium / potassium silicate |
| Application timing | During power troweling (fresh concrete) | Days or weeks after cure |
| Reacts with | Cement (complete reaction) | Lime only (partial reaction) |
| Penetration depth | Full slab depth | 1–3mm surface layer |
| Site visits required | 0 additional — done at pour | 2–3 return trips |
| Surface residue | None | White film / haze (requires cleaning) |
| Dust-proofing | Immediate and permanent | Delayed — applied after curing |
| Plastic shrinkage risk | Reduced — extends finishing window | No effect (applied post-cure) |
| Compatibility | All cement types incl. CEM III | May underperform on low-carbon cements |
| System integration | Designed for Optimal Slab system | Standalone — no hardener synergy |
Part of the Complete Concria System
Trowel Hard is designed to work with Optimal Slab dry-shake hardener as an integrated system. Together, they deliver a floor that is hardened, densified, and cured in a single placement visit — eliminating the need for liquid hardeners, curing compounds, and sealers.
